Good Morning Leaders, Readers, and Casual Observers,
I’ve seen a lot of commentary the past few days on LinkedIn surrounding “quiet cracking,” and I agree with the sentiment from most of my network - that the term is nothing more than gaslighting.
But the dialogue seems to be focusing on what quiet cracking actually means, the conditions creating it, and the frustrations surrounding the invalidating assumptions of leaders on those conditions and how to get through them.
You know what else cracks quietly, until it doens’t?
Plate tectonics.
Burnout at the scale we are seeing has the potential to lead to the worst leadership ecosystem collapse we’ve seen in the modern era.
At this point for me, making sure our future generations get what they need to lead the way forward is paramount. Support, education, training, mentorship, validation.
And I know that is the surface level answer on the opposite end of “well they just need to suck it up.”
We need to ask ourselves what do our future leaders need to thrive given the conditions they are growing in, not the conditions we once had or wish we could still work within.
I don’t have all the answers, but I have purpose. I hope you’ll join me in finding them.
Until next time,
Chris
If you share any of these concerns or have a drive to empower those that come after us, I’d love to connect.
Last Friday’s live was a success, so I’ll be starting up a regular live every Friday morning at 10am EST, Cultivar Coffee Chat.
Bring your questions and thoughts to a relaxed and informal chat about the intersections of life and leadership.
If you have nothing, come anyways and have a beverage while I talk about the themes I’ve noticed from the week, sometimes with co-hosts. I hope to see you there.
