Happy Monday Leaders, Readers, and Casual Observers,
Today’s thought is brought you by Cultivar’s Chief Inspiration Officer, my toddler.
Sometimes, we can clearly communicate our needs, our wants, and our vision.
Sometimes the team (the wife and I) gets it. Other times they don’t.
Often times, simply stating the vision doesn’t actually manifest what you want.
But it does invite conversation about how it can be achieved.
Whether it’s not being able to watch Ms. Rachel’s version of “Wheels on the Bus” for the 7th time in a row, or having to reorganize the to-do list to accommodate shifting team members’ schedules, we all have to do things on timelines that we can never truly control.
Frustrations and limitations do not give an excuse to throw a fit and disrupt the team’s flow, and ultimately hinder your progress towards meeting your needs, wants, or vision.
If my toddler can understand this, I certainly can do a better job at embodying it.
Until next time,
Chris
Contour Lines is my anecdotal newsletter segment that weaves whats going on in my life with my thoughts on leadership as well as personal and organizational development. If something reasonates, subscribe or leave a comment, or reach out to chat - I always love hearing people’s story.
Want to interact with me live? I go live on Substack Friday(s) 10am EST, bring your thoughts and questions!
Great reminder about shared goals and commitments. Just what I needed to read to help me think about how to get my team (re)focused at the start of a new academic year.
