Happy Friday leaders, readers, and casual observers,
I’m going to start dedicating my end of week Contour Line Segments to do a wrap-up/reflection of what things stood out to me personally and professionally, as well as what I plan to work on next week. I’ll likely throw in some of my Notes from the week and little anecdotes or other small bits that aren’t seen unless you use the app.
This was a good week for me personally, I’m noticing a sense of grounding and purpose that is guardrailing the productivity drive from going into burnout. I’ve had great conversations with peers and mentors, recieved an offer to collaborate on some workshops this fall, and I’ve dived into some of my more creative hobbies.
I’m pleased to announce to, that the interview I did with
of the Dear Business Coach podcast has aired on her website and YouTube, so please go support her and check it out!https://www.dearbusinesscoachpodcast.com/
Speaking of video, I hosted my first live-stream here on Substack this morning. It was a test run to see how user-friendly the interface was, the audio and video quality - it went well! I was lucky enough to have 3 supportive subscribers com in and chat with me about various aspects of life and leadership; some of the themes were the distinction between being in a leadership role and actually leading, managing your burnout, the dangers of turning passions into productivity versus rest and relaxation.
We also talked about pear trees and chickens.
My original thought with the lives was to do an “Office Hours” type format, where people could tune in and ask questions on leadership problems - I still want that but I’m going to change it slightly. Instead I’ll call the live streams “Cultivar Coffee Hour,” so that hopefully the vibe will be more relaxed and comfortable. We can still talk about leadership, but I don’t want to lecture - I want it to be a collaborative community where everyone can support and drawn from each other. I’ll tentatively plan to do another one next Friday morning, if you can join I’d love to see you there!
My goals for next week are to delve a bit deeper on Cultivar’s principle frameworks, I’m finding it an enjoyably challenging experience to take the principles, methods, and ways of teaching/mentoring from the past 15 years and honing them into an offerable process. Until I started Cultivar, I worked internal to organizations and didn’t have to think about my process as much as just do it when it came to leadership guidance and cultivation, so this is a good thing.
I’ll be exploring different social media posting strategies, I might do voice recordings for older Substack posts to increase accessibility, and I’ll continue to host networking and discovery calls.
Let me know in the comments what you are up to, and what sort of things you’d like to see from me (i.e., quotes, music, advice), I’d love to know!
Until next week,
Chris
Oh how exciting! You know this is going to be an episode that gets pointed to over and over again!
